Dear Friends of the Caponi Art Park,

Thank you to everyone who has come out to visit the Art Park so far this year and to those who have so generously donated their time and money to the organization. The park and its free programs would not exist without you. Thanks!

June was a very busy month at the Art Park. The South of the River Band performed in the Theater in the Woods for the first time which brought in many Art Park “newbies.” It is so satisfying to see the expressions on visitor’s faces as they take their first walk through the park. After more than 30 years of sculpting the land, to hear the excitement and amazement in visitor’s comments makes it all worth it for founder Anthony Caponi.

Mu Daiko

Mu Daiko at the Theater in the Woods in 2000.

This month promises to be loads of fun—Dakota Valley Summer Pops Orchestra, a 70-member orchestra and 30-member chorus, presents Just When You Thought It Was Safe to Go Back in the Water…, an evening of water-related music from JAWS to Titanic, and Mu Daiko, a 14-member nationally recognized taiko drumming ensemble, returns to Caponi Art Park after 8 years to present a highly physical and musical concert based upon traditional Japanese drumming. And don’t forget about Family Fun Tuesdays—African-American culture, taiko drumming, Shakespeare and puppetry, oh my!

Come for the art, stay for the fun!
