Dear Friends of the Caponi Art Park, 2007 Medieval Fair Come out for the annual Medieval Fair this Sunday, October 5 and experience the Middle Ages through the Society for Creative Anachronism, “an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe.” Authentic pavilions will be on display in a Medieval Village as SCA members in period dress present interactive demonstrations and activities to the public, including rapier and other armored combat, pewter casting, music and dancing, cooking, heraldry, and fiber arts. Photo Contest Deadline October 20th + Great Prizes! Come for the art, stay for the fun! I heart Caponi Art ParkThank you to everyone who has donated time and charitable gifts to the Art Park this year. Contributions from individuals like you are essential to the park and its ability to offer free family-friendly cultural programs. If you enjoyed one of our programs this year, walked the trails and appreciate what the Art Park provides the community, please consider giving back! Caponi Art Park is an independent nonprofit. Many businesses offer volunteer and matching gift programs that allow employees to volunteer during work hours or match their charitable contributions. Ask your employer about their charitable programs and double your support for the Art Park. How "Voting Yes" will affect the Art ParkThe Water, Land and Legacy Amendment will impact this community treasure two ways: (1) provide more stable and long-term sources of funding to support our free, family-friendly cultural programs; (2) provide funding opportunities to preserve and maintain the natural areas of the Art Park for years to come. Consider this: State funding for the arts is cut almost every year there is a budget deficit. Currently the state invests roughly $2 per person in the arts each year. In return, arts activities generate approximately $1 billion, or $195 per person, in tax generating economic activity. That is a great cost benefit ratio and makes arts funding a sound investment for MN’s economy and quality of life.
