Music You Can Bear
The Minnesota Sinfonia will open the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Theater in the Woods this Sunday, June 13. Directed by Jay Fishman, the Sinfonia has been a mainstay at Caponi Art Park since the mid-90's, several years before the amphitheater was even built. We love celebrating with old friends and new friends alike. Help make this an event to remember and join us this Sunday:
- Construct a pint-size teddy bear disguise in anticipation of the “Teddy Bears’ Picnic” played by the Minnesota Sinfonia, where children will be invited to parade around the stage. Lyrics to the song will be handed out for the audience to sing along. The hands-on activity is for children and will take place from 5:30 - 7:00pm before the concert;
- Be transported back 90 years to an Italy bound by medieval traditions, the power of religion and Mussolini’s emerging fascist ideals with a short reading of Anthony Caponi’s book ‘Voice from the Mountains’ at 6:30pm. Book will be for sale at concert;
- Let the wooded amphitheater and natural acoustics bring a touch of magic to your evening with the symphonic strings of the Minnesota Sinfonia. Music will begin at 7:00pm;
- Enjoy locally made ice cream from Ring Mountain Creamery, available for sale from 5:30 – 8:00pm;
- Go on a scavenger hunt and discover the sculptures and history of the Art Park along the way;
- Snap some action photos or nature portraits for the 3rd annual Caponi Art Park Digital Photo Contest. Sponsored by Legacy Creative Images, $250 in cash prizes will be awarded to both youth (14 and under) and adult categories;
- Bring a food donation for Eagan's 150th Birthday Food Drive, which will be donated to the Eagan Resource Center;
- Get involved with your community and see a great concert by volunteering at one of the Theater in the Woods events coming up this summer.
