First Family Fun Tuesday of the Season

Family Fun Tuesdays is a weekly summer-long children's series that provides families with opportunities to experience a variety of art forms, learn about world cultures and experience new ideas together. The series presents all forms of art in the sculpture garden on Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m.

Next Tuesday, June 7 join MacPhail Center for Music's early childhood music specialists in exploring some of nature's sounds through hands-on musical adventures and activities. We will swim like a fish, jump like a frog, sing like a bird, mimic nature sounds through instrument exploration, and create!

Come hear the diverse sounds and stories of Latin America come to life the following week on June 14. The full schedule for Family Fun Tuesday is available on our website. Programs will only be canceled in the event of severe weather or if the artist is unable to perform. In case of rain, events will be held under a canopy.

Celebrate Fathers' Day at Caponi Art Park

This Fathers' Day, Sunday, June 19, the Minnesota Sinfonia will perform their summer family pops concert at 7:30 p.m. in Caponi Art Park's Theater in the Woods outdoor amphitheater. Bring your family and friends to listen to the Sinfonia perform music from Harry Potter, one of Johann Strauss's waltzes, some ragtime, familiar classics, marches and even a polka!

The Fathers' Day concert is a part of Caponi Art Park's free summer performance series, a family-friendly program that features a wide variety of music, theater and dance concerts. A $4 per person donation is suggested.

Select Family Fun Tuesday Performances Now Open to Day Care Groups

Select Family Fun Tuesday performances will be performed again in the afternoon at 1 p.m. specifically for day cares and other childrens groups. Performance dates include June 28 (Open Eye Figure Theater's Puppet Show), July 19 (Sumunar's Indonesian Gamelan and Kechak), and Aug. 2 (West Aftrican Drum and Dance). 2011 Photography Contest and Exhibition

Show us what Caponi Art Park looks like through your eyes and submit your photographs of the Art Park to our 4th annual photography contest and exhibition. Enter up to five images of the Art Park during the 2011 season, and you will be eligible to win a cash prize from sponsor, Legacy Creative Images. New this year, select photographs will be showcased in an exhibition at a local gallery space.
