Celebrate Caponi Art Park and Learning Center Day on May 7

We have one more thing to celebrate next Saturday -- Governor Mark Dayton has declared May 7, 2011 Caponi Art Park and Learning Center Day in Minnesota!

You are invited to celebrate this honor, and founder Anthony Caponi's 90th birthday, at our annual spring open house on Saturday, May 7 from 1-4 p.m. The event will be outdoors, and we will have tents and heaters to keep you warm and dry in case of rain. A formal presentation honoring Anthony Caponi will occur at 1:30 p.m. with art activities, bocce ball, self-guided tours, and Italian music ongoing throughout the afternoon. While no preregistration is required, please send us an email if you plan to attend the open house so we know how much cake we'll need for the celebration!

Poets in the Park: Teen Poetry Slam on May 15

Caponi Art Park will host a teen spoken word competition on Sunday, May 15 at 2 p.m. Slam Master Cynthia French will host the poetry slam, and there will be a performance by spoken word artist Thadra Sheridan. The New Heist Crew, a break dance group out of Minneapolis, will also perform.

Teens ages 13-19 are invited to compete for prizes, and all are invited to watch. Anyone interested in competing should arrive at the Art Park at 1:30 p.m. on May 15 to sign up and be prepared to perform up to three pieces of original poetry. More information is available on our website.

Caponi Art Park is Now Open for the 2011 Season

Spring is here, and Caponi Art Park is now open for the 2011 season. Come walk the trails, discover the
art, and stay for a performance by talented regional and local artists. The Art Park is open Tuesday through Sunday. Find directions and seasonal close hours on our website.

2011 Photography Contest and Exhibition

Show us what Caponi Art Park looks like through your eyes and submit your photographs of the Art Park to our 4th annual photography contest and exhibition. Enter up to five images of the Art Park during the 2011 season, and you will be eligible to win a cash prize from sponsor, Legacy Creative Images. New this year, select photographs will be showcased in an exhibition at a local gallery space.

Annual Linder's Garden Center Fundraiser

Do you plan on purchasing plants this spring? Buy them the weekend of May 20-23 at any one of Linder's 50 Flower Marts or the main garden center and 15% of your pre-tax total will go to Caponi Art Park! You must present the official invitation (click here to download and print) at the register in order to participate in the fundraiser.
