Dean Bryan

Wilhelmus B. Bryan, a top school administrator at Macalester College, where Caponi taught and chaired the Art Department, commissioned Caponi to make this sculpture.

In 1950, Caponi and the Minnesota Society of Sculptors made the documentary film “Sculpture in Minnesota”, which included extended scenes of Caponi creating this sculpture. After a number of years, the piece was returned to the artist.

It was never intended to be displayed in its current position, but this is where it was first placed and has remained ever since.
