Make Believe – the action of pretending or imagining that things are better than they really are

This work was created by Irish-born sculptor Rian Kerrane, professor in the College of Arts & Media, University of Colorado Denver. Kerrane’s work with vintage suitcases evokes historic and current global immigration patterns and experiences. Casting familiar objects in iron and bronze lets her repurpose imagery for her personal narrative, while echoing the broader shared human traits and commonality. As a visiting artist at IRON50, Kerrane created The Branding Iron Graffiti Project, a performance pour that included casting 26 letters and emojis, and the audience branding messages on 13 wood ironing boards. http://riankerrane.com
