Studio

Caponi built the studio to have a space to work after he retired from teaching at Macalester College. He built this mid-century modern structure the same way he created his sculptures: without a formal blueprint. With the help of his wife, Cheryl, and his sons, Caponi laid the blocks and poured the reinforced cement pillars, wheelbarrow by wheelbarrow. Today, the upper level of the studio houses the park’s office and the lower level is a functioning sculpture studio.
