The Theater in the Woods

The Theater in the Woods amphitheater is home to a variety of performances throughout the season. Work on it began after a storm in 1998 blew down hundreds of trees that needed to be cleared from the slopes. The Caponis spent the next two summers shaping the bowl of the amphitheater and building the stage. The theater’s first performances were held in 2000 after the brick stage was completed. Work on the retaining walls and upper tiers continued through 2006.

Just for fun Caponi hid three sculptures in the walls for visitors to discover.
