More Information: Caponi Art Park is participating in Eagan Art Block again this year. From September 11th to 25th there will be community art events and activities taking place all within a one-square-mile area in the center of Eagan. All activities are fun for the whole family and a great way to get outside to enjoy some beautiful fall days! See below for more information on what is happening at the park. Stop by the Eagan Art House and say hello to Caponi Art Park staff to learn about the programs and educational opportunities offered at the park. While you’re at the table, contribute to a community art piece that will be displayed at our “Shell-ebration” of Art and Nature on September 18th.

Caponi Art Park is taking a day to celebrate one of its favorite animal residents—the turtle. Visit the park for some craft activities and a special opportunity to hear from Minnesota artist Wayne Potratz, the creator of the recently installed sculpture, The Last Turtle Wain

Join the Caponi Art Park education staff to create your own tiny turtle using yarn and mini craft sticks—great for all ages!

Mimic the process of metal casting by pouring colorful melted wax into turtle-shaped molds. Caponi Art Park staff will be on site to assist.

Artist Encounter: Wayne Potratz and The Last Turtle Wain

Learn about an exciting new sculpture from the artist who created it! Wayne Potratz has been a central figure in Minnesota’s metal casting community for decades and regularly features turtle iconography in his work.

The north-side sculpture tour explores a broad selection of Anthony Caponi’s life’s work and features a meaningful new acquisition that preserves Caponi’s legacy of artistic influence in Minnesota and beyond.
