Gardeners of all ages are invited to work on a variety of projects around the park from planting to pruning, weeding to watering, landscaping, path maintenance, and more. No prior experience is necessary, just an appreciation of the outdoors and a desire to learn from a staff member or another experienced gardening volunteer. There are two categories for volunteering as a gardener at Caponi Art Park listed below.
Caponi Art Park offers the opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable individual to serve as the Volunteer Head Gardener, an ideal position for someone with a passion for plantlife. This position is an integral part of park planning and maintenance and will spend time working with less experienced volunteers to ensure proper gardening techniques and care.
Qualifications:
- Certificate as a Master Gardener or other significant gardening experience
- Ability to volunteer on a regular basis
- Knowledge of native plant and invasive plant species
- Comfortable working as a mentor and providing instruction to others
- Ability to generate a list of pertinent gardening projects and plan for seasonal changes
Gardening Assistants may volunteer on a regular or one-off basis under the direction of a staff member or another experienced gardening volunteer, like the Volunteer Head Gardener.
