2018 ‘Round the Bend Music+Beer
We’re continuing the fun of last year’s Bluegrass & Beer with this series focused on great Americana music, local craft beer and great food. Grab a blanket, bring friends, family or your dog and relax under the leafy canopy. Enjoy your favorite music while you sip on beer from Eagan’s Bald Man Brewing Company and have a bite to eat from the food trucks.
Farewell Milwaukee with Land at Last
Held on Friday, June 8, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Farewell Milwaukee is a Minneapolis based band that embraces the role that their Midwestern towns have played in shaping them artistically, garnering fans through their authentic lyrics, lush vocal harmonies, and an honest sincerity at live shows. Their unique sound makes it difficult to fit them into a particular genre; however, genre tags are less important when projects like theirs have beautifully crafted instrumentation accompanied by powerful lyrics and melodies.
Land at Last, a Minneapolis duo, opens this amazing night. They combine gentle voices with fingerstyle and slide techniques on acoustic and electric guitars. Their honest lyrics create their own blend of Minnesota folk and blues.
Join us Friday, July 13th at 5:30pm for our second installment of ‘Round the Bend, Music & Beer. Pleasure Horse opens our second installment of ‘Round the Bend, Music & Beer with their rollicking blend of Country and Rock & Roll. Pleasure Horse’s blend of guitars, keys, drums, bass and steel guitar harkens back to the “cosmic American music”, of Gram Parsons. Pleasure Horse’s music feels just as reliable and familiar as that trusty old stead they borrow their name from. Elizabeth Ghandour, our main act, will be here to fill the whole amphitheatre with her rich and expansive voice. Trained in Opera, Elizabeth found her way into Americana music through the historic New York City folk scene. Sit back and enjoy a voice that sounds familiar, like the great singers of the folk revival, but has a fresh modern edge that will instantly have you hooked and movin’!
Held on Friday, August 17, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Join us Friday, August 17th at 5:30pm for our third installment of ‘Round the Bend, Music & Beer. Tonight’s opening act is Stanton West. His songs are rootsy, feel-good, and groove driven. His songs are about hope, having fun, being who you are, and relishing the moment. He is an award-winning songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and world traveling troubadour spreading a message about the importance of family, community, nature, and positivity. Our main act, the Sawtooth Brothers, is rooted in traditional bluegrass instrumental and harmony work and is influenced by modern acoustic sounds, blending pop and indie rock sensibilities with heartfelt americana. During a live performance by the Sawtooth Brothers, audiences can expect creative original songs, hard driving bluegrass, classic country, gospel, and classic rock. Tying it all together is the band’s ability to put on a good show.
On the same evening Caponi Art Park will also be holding its annual fundraiser, HeART of the PARK. Experience our final ‘Round the Bend performance of the year in VIP fashion! VIP tickets are available and include: food and drinks by ZZQ Smokehouse, onsite VIP parking, designated seating and more! Funds raised from this event will go towards installing new works of art in the park and expanding our educational programs for people of all ages. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support our mission of restoring and nurturing the human spirit through art, nature and community.
