In 2025, Caponi Art Park continued to be a place where art, nature, and community come together in meaningful ways. Throughout the year, the park welcomed thousands of visitors of all ages to experience creativity outdoors—through performances, hands-on workshops, guided tours, and quiet moments of reflection along the trails.
- Nearly 7,000 people attended events, performances, and workshops, gathering to celebrate creativity, culture, and community.
- 14 performances, 4 events, 5 workshops brought dance, music, theatre, health and wellness, and cultural expression to the park.
- Community engagement projects like the “Rip Rap” rock snake and mosaics invited visitors to leave their mark and connect through art.

Snake Restoration Project 2025
Snake was restored to its original vibrancy with support from a Minnesota Historical Society grant and Minnesota Energy Resources. Conservators from KCI Conservation cleaned, repaired and restored the sculpture’s surface, especially its coppery scales. Learn more about the restoration here.
2025 Community Engagement Projects
Community Rock Snake
In 2025, we celebrated the restoration of Snake, a beloved sculpture at Caponi Art Park, by inviting the community to add their own decorated rocks to a growing rock snake. The winning name for this collaborative artwork is Rip Rap — a term for stones placed along shorelines and trails to protect and stabilize the land. Just like riprap supports the landscape, our community rock snake strengthens the park by weaving together art, nature, and community spirit. Each painted rock tells its own unique story, creating a vibrant and connected artwork that reflects the creativity and care of our visitors. Community Mosaics
In 2025, colorful community-created mosaics brought new life to the park’s landscape, celebrating art, collaboration, and our shared connection to nature. During Art Block, people of all ages came together to design and build three unique mosaics, each one a reflection of the creativity and community spirit that Caponi Art Park inspires.
Education
Our education programs reached more than 2,800 participants through a wide range of hands-on, creative learning experiences across the metro area. Through partnerships with 10 school districts and 2 library systems, we offered 72 community education and library classes, engaging 1,221 participants of all ages. On-site tours at Caponi Art Park welcomed an additional 1,037 students, educators, and community members for guided, place-based learning experiences.
Our youth-focused programs beyond community education and libraries—served 498 participants across 9 locations, with reach expanding significantly when library partnerships are included. We also provided specialized programming for seniors through ArtWise, engaging 37 participants in small-group, art-centered experiences, and inclusive programming through ArtAbility, serving 39 participants with disabilities—numbers that grow substantially when community education and library programs are factored in.
Together, these programs reflect our commitment to accessible, inclusive, and community-centered arts education across generations.
Events
This year, more than 7,000 people attended events at Caponi Art Park; gathering to celebrate creativity, culture, and community. An immersive performance that blended mythology and modern storytelling, presented over multiple evenings.
Lines in the Dirt presented by Troupe Rendezvous
An interactive theater experience that explored environmental themes through dynamic performances.
NAMI Family Fun Day
A mental health awareness event that offered creative workshops, art activities, and a mental health scavenger hunt for all ages.
Native Art Market and Solstice Celebration
The park celebrated Indigenous art and culture with local vendors, performances, and solstice festivities.
MN Sinfonia Children’s and Family Concert
A family-friendly concert featuring the MN Sinfonia, offering an engaging introduction to classical music.
Robin Hood presented by Firefly Players
A lively, outdoor production of the classic tale of Robin Hood, presented by Eagan’s own Firefly Players.
The Return of King Idomeneo presented by The Pick Up Truck Opera
A unique opera performance that brought the story of King Idomeneo to life in a contemporary setting.
Hot Art! Artist Tile Workshops
Participants created their own art tiles in hands-on workshops.
Hot Art! Public Iron Pour
An exhilarating event that brought art and community together.
